Students had fun this week sharing various items at circle time and talking about their adventures outside of school.
We were blessed to have Oliver and Stella come grace us with their presence and their powerful class meeting. They did a wonderful job getting the students to think about respect and act out scenarios where students are disrespectful and have them think of how they could be more respectful. We greatly appreciated their time and efforts and enjoyed having them.
In math this week the students played games to practice area and perimeter and have been working diligently to master the concepts needed for the assessment next week. We will review on Monday so that they feel more comfortable with rectilinear shapes as well as some of the concepts that we haven't practiced in a few weeks to refresh their memory.
I have extended the deadline for final illustrations to be completed and am giving the students some time next week to work on them as well. However, we have a very busy week and they still have to prepare their speeches for the Book Launch, so I am asking several students who are having trouble finishing in class to please work on them this weekend and every evening until they are finished. We absolutely need to have the books glued by Thursday and we will have a field trip for most of Wednesday. I'd like their final illustrations no later than end of day Tuesday if possible. Several of the book are finished and just waiting for the author's photograph and cover lamination. They look stunning and I know that all their hard work is going to be worth it when they get to share their stories =)
