This week we delved into philosophical discussions to prepare for our jury duty on Thursday. The students did very well considering each other's opinions and thinking critically about the various topics and scenarios presented. As a fun reading this week, we enjoyed several of Mo Willems' books. Picture books are such a superb way of learning about stories and being exposed to different ideas. Everyone worked well while making our colonial garden, and we are excited to move on to making our store fronts. Check out the photos tab for some great pictures of the whole third grade this week. What a week! Math and May Day madness, wrapping up the writer's guild, poem in your pocket day, various visitors, fantastic free time and super surprises! Students had a busy week as we moved forward with the math unit and have been hard at work learning decimals and fractions. They completed their books and we celebrated! We are proud of the hard work, happy to have a completed project, and are ready to take on our final project of the year! We had a student visit on Thursday and are excited at the prospect of growing our wonderful classes. We also had a surprise visit from Christian, who came to celebrate our games time Friday, and tried to Skype with Sonia as a surprise, but had a poor connection so we will try again soon. Students have shown much growth and maturity as the end of the school year approaches, and although we have many things to work on academically and socially, it is exciting to see them applying the knowledge and skills we have worked hard on all year. As we move into the last month of the school year, the students will be diligently working on our project. We can't wait to show off another masterpiece! |
