Visitors, Games, Graphs, Goofy Dance Parties (and some seriously silly ear covering to block out the once beloved Frozen song that is now "not cool"), Goodbyes, and some serious reflective moments... What a week it has been. Tuesday Ms. Howell's brother Ben and Mom stopped by to meet the class and share gifts and fun facts about Pittsburgh. Wednesday we practiced graphing and analyzing data on line plots. Thursday we paused to appreciate the beautiful campus we have, as well as the amazing wildlife that we get to witness grow each day. Afterwards we watched a great video about loving one another for who we each are. The students inspired me with their attentiveness to the message, as well as their reflections after the video about how important it is to celebrate our differences, as well as to love everyone and try to see the good in one another. Friday we started the day off with our Dance Party as usual, and had several brain breaks throughout the day where we danced and enjoyed the last day with Sonia in our class. The students worked on their illustrations for their stories and a variety of other tasks to practice their skills. I'm happy to say that we were able to send Sonia off with a (mostly) completed book! In the next 2 weeks we have a lot of work ahead of us for each student to complete their books, and I look forward to our celebration when they will share their hard work with family and friends. We have all been practicing patience and learning to help each other with the many steps in the book making process. I hope that they will be proud of themselves, their growth, and their works of art when they are finished =) MATH MATH AND MORE MATH! Students took time to use many manipulatives to explore measuring, money, and how many shapes they could make using a set number of cubes. Students have also been hard at work on their story illustrations and 3rd grade classed combined to create art for their grandparents =) |
