The 3A students will be very focused over the next few weeks on creating a storybook. This week, they developed the characters they will use and the story line they intend to follow. They must link their story to the theme of kindness.
The students have a timeline they will bring home on Monday. Take note of both the timeline and the rubric. Take the time to reflect with your student about their story. Ask questions about where your child is in the timeline. The more interested you are in this work, the more engaged your child will be.
Not only must they create the characters and the story, they must also illustrate the story, put it all into a format, and bind it. We have a lot to do, and the timing will be crucial. The best possible help you can give your child is to have him/her at school each day.
We will continue to work with measurement both in inches, feet, yards, and miles, and in millimeters, centimeters, meters, and kilometers. We will also continue to develop our facility with division and multiplication, spending time with using our facts in algorithms of increasing complexity.
We will more than likely finish our reading of Dear Levi. The students are deeply engaged in this story and eager to see how it will all resolve.
I hope you are noticing how splendidly their essay writing is developing. I'll tell you, I'm over the moon.
